Update on a couple publications coming out, some stories out for various open calls, and some general oddities and endemnities.

Consider this your article and/or short story for the week. Forgive the lack of both, by the way—I’ve been scurrilously and furiously hacking pieces of myself off to sell for hunks of shiny objects or diseased scraps of useless paper.

This place only pays me in tension headaches and narcissistic agency.

Let me hawk my wares:

What the Shadows Take …and the darkness keeps. A Collection

This thing comes out tomorrow. Free on KU, $2.99 on regular-ass Kindle, and $6.66 for the paperback version on Amazon.

Or, $4.99 + a couple bookmarks from MY NEW STORE. Obviously, see if the shipping is worth it for you and yours vs what you’d pay on Amazon. My hate of one company doesn’t mean I want someone to hurt their own pockets for my justice.

Next up, we have my story, The Will of the Woods, appearing in Weird Tales to Haunt Your Reptilian Brain, published by Burial Books.

It’s their logo; don’t steal it

How to classify this one? Fungal horror, body horror, and cosmic horror. I coin this coupling (tripling?): The Triple Beam.

So gather up your baking soda, because this just got a release date of August 1st, 2025, better known as “193 days into this fucking nightmare of a second Donald Goddamn Tr—”

Never mind. Real ones get it. This story is about fascism and the dissolution of bodily autonomy.

Stories Out With Various Publishers:

If you like my free stuff—the stuff I post on here, ahem—then you’ll really like these, so keep an eye out.

Before it Takes Your Body – Grief horror, told from the POV of a child experiencing the decline of his grandmother. Ghost story, or just a kid’s way of coping?

Marking the Beast – Leftist activist with the ability to talk to ghosts sets up a Psychic Shop in the conservative heartland of the good ol’ Southern US of A.

The Farthest Spot Beneath the Tree – Transgressive Christmas Story about a grieving alcoholic porch-package thief. Holiday anthology.

Goodbye Waves – Robert returns to Lake Michigan to dump his father’s ashes and resurrect old ghosts. Literally. Strangely…this is also a Christmas Story. GLAHW anthology.

The Blackest Seeds We’ve Sown – Pitch-black grief horror. A brand new mother dreads having to raise her baby alone as she looks out the window watching for her husband who abandoned her. A storm settles in.

Stillwater – YES, so what—it’s another swamp horror. This is the best thing I’ve ever written though, so it’s getting published. Local legend tells of an ancient church, missing somewhere in the local swamp. Caleb’s brother is also missing in the swamp. Or, he was missing. Now, he is leading Caleb on a midnight goose-chase, in a twisting race deeper and deeper into the mire.

This is still new:

Get it at Hellbound

Or Amazon

Oh yeah… Or my website.

Other Awesome Stuff:

My website: drekdeathanddoom.com is done. I haven’t filed the Llc ppwk, so I’m not publishing other peoples’ work yet, although I did add a call for submissions page. It is clearly labeled closed to submissions, so, you know… Read that part.

I started an Instagram for promotional purposes, because if I want to do more self-publishing or my own press, I’m going to need wider, solely-visual reach. Gotta rebuild my brand there, which makes me want to make a nice batch of Chop Suey ifyougetwhatimsaying, but you gotta do what you gotta so.

SO, if you do your thing there, too— instagram.com/dylantbosworth
