Nascent Night Press Submissions
Take a look at some of the authors published under this imprint, and the styles and themes they share. Notice the ways in which, even in their voidal, cosmic differences, there’s a common pull that binds them to this Nascent Night.
Nascent. The definition we’re most familiar with is:
adjective
- beginning to exist or develop.
What if instead, we consider the definition of nascent as if we were chemists:
noun
Chemistry.
- the condition of an element at the instant it is set free from a combination in which it has previously existed.
This idea formed alongside a push to publish better horror and the realization that the problem didn’t exist only within the genre in which I write.
I saw people writing literary nukes and had the sinking realization that some of these people would be ousted from the mainstream markets if ever given a footing at all. The first non-quotationed dialog, their manuscript would be trashed as a wannabe McCarthy imitation, and never given a chance beyond. They’d read sprawling sentences of whitewater-rapids power, unobstructed by slowing commas, and they would dismiss it as unstudied.
