In the darkest corners of our hearts looms the thoughts we hope never to unearth. The types of things we are all capable of if pushed far enough. How we think about others. What happens outside of our control as we all walk through our time. Dylan Bosworth’s book “What the Shadows Take …And the Darkness Keeps” takes you down these paths among others. The stories are best read and reflected on one by one like any good short fiction and some sting harder than others but at the end of each story, no more than ten minutes to absorb, you’ll find yourself soaking in the darkness. There’s a very human experience in these pages for those willing to let themselves feel some discomfort. This book starts with a creeping internal monologue in a restaurant and ends with a murky contract sealed in the swamps. I dare you to dive deep and let that darkness have you. If only for just a couple moments at a time.
